Reading the Digital 2020 study on the Philippines, I was amazed that digital footprint of the Philippines have been growing on a rapid rate as more and more Filipinos uses internet for information, media consumption and even for connection. Based on the data, 73 Million out of 108.8 Million population in the Philippines uses internet and are active in social media.

What is more staggering is that there is 173.2 million active mobile connections, which is 159% of the population. This only shows how deeply Filipinos have embraced the online and digital technology. Furthermore, Filipinos are already spending quite a substantial number of hours online as shown in the follow data.

It could be said that the use of social media is infused within the daily lives of filipinos particularly the millennials and newer generations.
This data shows how highly beneficial to various organizations to invest in online digital marketing as its reach and exposure significantly high. Nowadays, there has been a dynamic shift of trend from conventional media (e.g. televisions and radios) to social media surfing.
In addition, the study is quite extensive as it even shows demographics of the users of each social media platform. Marketers can use this information to know which platform to use to reach their target segment.
These information, struck me the most as it shows me the potential of digital marketing in promoting a product or service. Given accessing and promoting through social media platforms is essentially free unless artificially boosted, this is a lot cheaper compared to conventional media platform.
